Descript Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Download and Install Descript

  1. Visit the Descript website.
  2. Click Download.
  3. Install the app on Windows or macOS.
  4. Sign in with your Google, Apple, or email account. 

Step 2: Create a New Project

  1. Open Descript.
  2. Click New Project.
  3. Enter a project name.
  4. Choose Import Media, Screen Recording, Camera Recording, or Blank Project.

Step 3: Import Your Video or Audio

  1. Drag and drop your video or audio file.
  2. Or click Import and select a file.
  3. Wait while Descript creates the transcript automatically.

Step 4: Explore the Editor

  1. The editor includes:

    • Transcript Editor – Edit text.
    • Video Preview – Watch changes live.
    • Timeline – Control clips.
    • Sidebar – Access AI tools, media, captions, and layouts.

Step 5: Edit by Editing Text

  • Click inside the transcript.
  • Delete unwanted words or sentences.
  • The matching video or audio is removed automatically.

Step 6: Remove Filler Words

  • Open AI Tools.
  • Select Remove Filler Words.
  • Apply Studio Sound to improve audio quality.
  • Remove long pauses if needed.

Step 7: Add Captions

  1. Open Captions.
  2. Choose a caption style.
  3. Customize font, size, color, and animation.

Step 8: Add Images, Music, and Effects

  1. Open the Media panel.
  2. Add images, videos, music, or sound effects.
  3. Arrange them on the timeline.

Step 9: Preview Your Video
